E H Scott Allwave 23 audio transformer replacement?

Greetings to all. I'm a new member and have a question.

I'm restoring a Scott All wave 23 radio chassis and the audio imput transformer on the power supply chassis has an open primary. The schematic info says it is: PP 6C6 to PPP 2A3 tubes.

The primary is supposed to be 180 ohmic resistance to CT. and the secondary 700-0-1000.

Is there a universal replacement transformer I could use in its place?

  Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the Scott website.

There are enough parts chassis around which should be your first and best source. Because it will be the right specs and the right dimensions to swap into your amp.

I believe I have available a good interstage audio xfmr pulled from a parts AW-23 amp. I'll check tomorrow.

email me.  dcp944@yahoo.com

Thanks David,  That would be great if you have one available I could purchase. email sent.

I want to thank David Poland for the transformer he sent me for the all wave 23 chassis I'm working on.

I finished the recap and resistor replacement on the main chassis. Replaced Ecaps on power supply and I got it playing.

Now the rest of the restoration starts. The chrome is rough on this radio so I'm going to have the power supply chassis re-chrome plated. I have stripped down the power supply amp to bare chassis but having trouble getting the covers off the power transformer.

Has anyone taken the covers off and is there a certain procedure to follow?

Yes I have.  Years ago..

The transformer terminal board is attached to the chrome frame with very small rivets - a total of 4.

A bit difficult teasing the rivets loose. May need to use a small drill. I may have used a small awl or other sharp pointed tool and hammer to drive the rivers out of the metal frame.

Thanks David, I got the shells apart on the transformer. It's a little tricky and after drilling out the rivets you have to unsolder one wire on the terminal board that comes from the windings in order to get the shell frame off.  Going to see if I can post a couple pictures might help someone else in the future.

You have to be careful not to stress the wires while removing the ...

also the paper insulator has to come off in order to get the shell off.

Here they are out and ready to go to the Chrome shop tomorrow.

I also have the chokes apart they will go too since they look as bad as the tranny shells.
