The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

For those fortunate to possess the remote control hand unit, some questions. Are the buttons “positive” ie as an on/off switch, momentary ie you hold choice down till motor tunes, or electrodynamic ie press and release ?

Further, are there any inherent problems (contacts etc), with the hand held device ?

I’m on the hunt to acquire the above for my 39 AM BOL.

The push buttons are momentary contact and must be held down until the station has been reached.  The remote keyboard is not designed to be a hand held device, but a stationary chairside device to be placed on an end table.  The contacts seem to hold up well but will require a cleaning before being placed in operation.  Although having the same appearance, the remote keyboard for the 800B is not electrically equivalent to the remote keyboard for the pre-war Scott receivers.  The 800B version included two common lines for the purpose of switching between AM and FM.  The pre-war remote keyboards had a single common line.  The 800B version can be modified to work with the pre-war versions but the converse is not easy.  The remote keyboard in the image you posted is for an 800B (vinyl insulated wires).

Just what I suspected Norm, good eye on the vinyl coated wire. Suspect they’re silver coated contacts as with most momentary devices, very careful cleaning indeed.

This should be the prewar
