Scott Decal for Philly 15 inch Pedestal Speaker

I tried to clean this speaker but in so doing I messed up the Scott decal.  May need to give it a paint job.  Two questions:

1. Anyone know where I can get a new Scott decal?

2. What is the correct paint color for the speaker?

Thanks,
Joe

I would not paint that speaker.  It is in nice condition.  If you insist, just a light coat of silver paint over the original.

As for the label, the lettering is raised.  Strip old paint, paint whole thing black, then carefully strip paint off of raised lettering.

Scott,

Great idea, never thought of that.  Will give it a try.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe ... I don't know about the decal but I do have a closeup photo of my speaker. The color looks the same as yours so  I suspect that nice crinkle gray is correct. I second what Scott said. Your paint looks original and in nice condition. You might as well keep it. (Note ... this photo was taken before I cleaned the radio!)

Not grey,  silver spray paint.

Protect the cone and the tweeter socket from the spray paint. Might as well paint the wood base too while you are at it..

BUT  try cleaning it first. I would beat a mild detergent to make suds. Use the suds and a tooth brush on one area at a time - and then blot the surface with old pieces of cotton towel to remove the dirt and grime. Do not wet the cone. May be sufficient.

The screw heads will polish up with chrome polish.

Honestly, I think you would hurt the value of that speaker by painting it.  It really is in fine condition.
