<p>Yes it is a Radio Frequency (RF) shield. During service the big full width bottom plate is removed for access to internal parts. Absence of the big metal plate would alter the adjustment of some coils but for the smaller RF shield staying in place. There are several small holes in the smaller shield to allow inserting adjusting tools during alignment procedures.</p>
<p>Originally screws that hold the smaller bottom place were 6 small machine flat head screws so they were flush to the front…</p>
