The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Interested in what people know about these.  I have one in virtually perfect condition, with long cord plus what seems to be a second cord

It is good to hear that the rest of the set is intact although perhaps a difficult restoration if even a candidate for restoration.  By all means, work with the fellow expressing interest but be careful not to short change yourself.  The 800B with the remote volume capability and the remote are highly sought after and will be of interest to others on this forum.  The original ribbon cable was approximately 20-feet long.  It sounds like the original cable for your set was divided into a cable for the remote and an extension cable.  A five foot portion is useful for demonstration of a remote operated 800B but not for practical use as originally intended.

Hello, no slide switch on the remote.  The remote control cable is 12' long and appears to be in very good shape.  Can't really see any signs of ware.  Short cable about 51/2 feet.  Has plugs on both ends-one end matched the plug at the end of the remote cable:22 thin prongs and one round center prong; the other end is 21 thin prongs.

I have pictures on my cell phone but not very capable past that.  If you are willing to share an email address (which I will NOT share) I will attach some pictures.

I am working via e-mails over the past couple weeks with an interested person into these Scott radios, so am going to take his offer for the cabinet, et als, in fairness, which I expect likely to be made tomorrow.  I have mentioned that  I have 2 cables, but don't know if he has a lot of interest in the second one-have just focussed on the remote.

Okay, that confirms the version.  Very few 800B receivers were equipped with remote controls but all were built to use a remote control for off/on and tuning.  Sets originally equipped with remote controls were also capable of remote volume control and some were capable of turning limited record changer operation.  Does your remote control have a slide switch mounted on one end?  It is unfortunate that the chassis are gone because the motor assembly for remote volume control is much harder to find than the remote control.

All Scott remote control keyboards whether pre- or post-war are highly sought after and are in demand by the Scott collecting community.  Value depends on the version and condition with the style (more than one style of cable has been found), condition, and length of the ribbon cable being fairly important.  I have seen prices range from $200 to $500 for the remote keyboard.  How long are the cables?  Does the second cord have any plugs or sockets on the ends?  Can you post photos of the remote and cables?  I may be interested in the second cable.

I have the radio/cabinet/thorens turntable/original tuning and installation instructions manual/sheets of the north american radio stations.  Sadly, the electronics, etc. degraded due to many years storage in unheated garage.  Once was quite beautiful.

Michael: How do you know it is for the Model 800B? The pre-war remotes looked exactly the same but were wired differently.
