The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

"Late 1933" Scott AW12 with "Olympia" cabinet available....

From the estate of a friend: Truly excellent chrome, late AW12 single dial, working chassis. Olympia cabinet has never been cut for a phonograph. It is marked inside: Peerless Furniture Company, Rockford, Illinois #521. It also includes the optional antenna tuner and the original sales paperwork. The asking price is $1000, but offers are welcome. Feel free to PM me and I'll put you in touch with the owner. Hope to find this one a good home. Currently located in Suburban Philadelphia, about 1 hour from the Kutztown Radio Show grounds.

A really nice looking correct example. With that speaker should be the AVC version with a blue glass  Arcturus Wunderlich tube as 2nd detector.  (3rd tube back on the left end of the receiver.). The Olympia is a mid priced Scott cabinet.

If I had the room, I'd be bringing this one home myself. I've owned many Scotts, but few with chrome as nice. I believe you are correct about the Wunderlich detector. The set is not at my place, but close enough to get more photos if someone needs to see further specifics.

Here's some better resolution photos for those that asked. It is indeed 100% original finish on the cabinet. Also a photo of the included shipping faceplate and paperwork: it has the warranty card, inspection card with stations logged at factory, the chassis and cabinet brochures, several issues of Scott News, the Friendly Chats booklet written by EH Scott, and multiple correspondences between Scott and the original owner.

The original paperwork with the set is a rare and exciting find. It should all be kept together and preserved as probably 1 in 100 sets are found with that much provenance. The Just Friendly Chats booklets are rather rare, I've found some over the years. That is a really amazing set given the condition and documentation.

Especially the guarantee document - appears to read Ser# Z-80 and date of Dec 1933? Is that correct?

Yes, that is the correct serial number and date. I was more impressed by the certification paper. It has the guaranteed stations logged by the factory during testing. It's the small paper lying at the bottom of the console catalog.

I'm pleased to say this radio has a new owner. Thank you to all who emailed and expressed interest.
