The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

I recenlty acquired a Napier Cabinet with an Allwave 12. The tuning chassis has a rectangular face plate as show in Scott literature showing just the tuning chassis, not the "stairstep" design usually shown with the Napier. I know finding an original is unlikely, but thought it worth a try. Second option is to have one made. If anyone could provide a tracing of an original that would be helpful. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Or recut the one you have.

However, the proper panel has inverted "v" shape veneer layout like the cabinet has.

The first chore is to locate suitable veneer. Check out Constantine's. They have had a possible already laid out in a double "V" big enough for half of it for a panel.

The stair step of your cabinet leg front is fairly close to the panel stair step dimensions. Make one out of 3/8th plywood as a trial and see what you think.

Meanwhile I will tip off someone who has done this and maybe he has  a duplicate repo to offer you.

Hello John,

I have made four Napier stair step face plates.  They aren't completed yet, but are cut out and veneered with the chevron pattern walnut veneer.  I also have the small trim for the top, but haven't attached it yet.  None of these have any wood grain filler or finish on them yet.  I am going to try to match to stain color on my All Wave 15 Napier with one of them, and I have partially constructed two Napier cabinets for an All Wave 23 chassis, so I guess I have a spare one.  My email is jwkoest@charter.net, 931-788-1360.  Regards, Joe Koester
