The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Hi everyone, I started working on this AW23 and have two questions. This is an 8 knob chassis. I read a lot about 7 knob chassis but not the 8 knob. What is the 8th knob for? Second, I need to remove the tuning wheel with the coils to replace caps under it. Are there any secrets or cautions to doing this before I ruin something. It looks like the center nuts should be removed but I don't know about wires, etc. Thanks for any help you can give me.

We don't count the bandswitch lever as a knob!  For removal of the coil wheel, put the switch in the broadcast band position, note the position of the empty coil form, revive the nut(s), then lift the coil wheel.  There are two spring loaded detents you should watch for and save.  DO NOT ROTATE THE BANDSWITCH until after reinstalling the coil wheel.

Thanks, Norman.

Okay, I get it with the bandswitch lever. The coil wheel removal seems easy enough . Thanks for taking the time to respond to my plea for help. I'm so glad I found this site
