AW23 Tuner rebuild.

Hello all

I am picking back up on on a project from a while back

I have a Tasman fully populated with tweeters S#N535

An extra tuner,PS and speaker S#Q458

I am rebuilding tuner Q458 first.

Pulled the antenna coil to replace the rotor area wiring.

The inner coil with the 2 fine wires fell out of the tube. It tugged on them a bit but they didnt break.

I put a small piece of painters tape on the sides of the wooden plug and shoved in back in the large coil… Continue

New Chrome...

I have these 4 rechromed chassis back together.  The second one from the right is completely done and working.  The one with the 4 original wet electrolytics (right most one) has had new Nichicon's installed inside them and just needs the wiring completed.  The one on the far left had mice go to town on all the wiring in combination with a butcher human working in there, so it will be all rewired from scratch.  The AW23 amp (second from left) required I put 2 amps together to make one nice…

Scott knobs?

I only have one EH Scott radio that was put together from several Phantom Deluxe radios I acquired.  That said, these radios came with some other parts that I have sold or are selling.  One of the things that came with these radios is a set of knobs.  I have no clue if these are EH Scott knobs, if it is a complete set, what model they were for, etc.  Can someone confirm if these are, or are not Scott knobs?  Thanks much!…

800B Receiver and 16A Metropolitan Receiver - What to do?

I have come to own two E H Scott receivers, and I'm deciding what to do with them.

If there is interest, I am willing to part these out, so that owners of better examples can keep theirs running.

These were Brad Kelly's, you can still find his blog post to see pics. I do not have the 800B amp/IF section.

If you have an interest, please contact me and I will see what I can do to help you out.

AW23 Alignment issue

Looking for ideas - I haven't dug into this too far yet.

I recapped an AW23 (late) and I'm now working on the alignment. Voltage checks were in spec. IF alignment went right by the service data and trimmed out nicely. By the time I got back to the 1st IF, I had significantly reduced the generator output to keep the meter from going over - gain was excellent. On to AM band - 1400 trimmer is super close, slight tweak and then dial down to 600. At about 750, the two neon VR tubes…

Rarity and Value

Thanks for adding me to your ranks ! Looks like I will be getting an old Scott Cabinet radio Saturday. Elderly lady I know is moving / downsizing and is giving me the last of her late husbands radio collection. After he retired , he restored older radios so most likely they are in working condition. Just wondering if this is very rare and what the value might be. Thanks. Jay

WTB

Wanted to buy Philharmonic Scratch Suppressor switch. Think same switch was used on the Allwave 16 as well.

Auction find

Picked up this one at an auction in Indiana. Disgustingly dirty, but salvageable. Had the 15 in speaker, tweeters, and a Tauscher sound board! Cabinet is good to start...the whole set will require a lot of work but will be saved.

Scott SLRM National Radio R-302/URE-22 Connection

Hello all... I posted on that above subject here a few years ago regarding a very unusual National receiver I saw at a Nearfest NH hammer which looked like a Scott SLRM that had been converted to miniature tubes and had different power supply components. I recently came across what I believe I saw at Nearfest on Nick England, K4NYW’s Navy Radio web site. It was a National R-302/URR-22. Nick has info that National was awarded a contract to build modified REE receivers in 1949. REE was the Navy… Continue

Allwave 23

I have my Allwave 23 sitting next to a couple other radios, found this tag on the floor, belong to the Scott?  If so where might it have been stuck?  I don't see any places inside of the cabinet where this might have been.  Also just starting to mount the receiver into the cabinet.  Since this receiver was not bolted from the bottom how do you know when it is pushed forward enough?  Stop when it is close to the inside front of cabinet, or should there be some sort of spacer, or stops on the…

Band switch lever for AW 15

Hello all. It's my understanding that this forum may be a source for the escutcheon and handle for the band switch on a E.H. Scott AW 15 radio. It would be greatly appreciated if you could head me the right direction on this. Thanks Steve Pierce

Phantom Deluxe Schematic

I need a schematic for a BFM Phantom Deluxe, Serial # TT-331, 22 tube receiver chassis and the mating power supply/audio chassis.  In the meantime, I am referring to other Phantom documentation.  Any suggestions?

FM Converter Band Selector Tag

Does someone please have a good scan of the tag that came with the FM converter, as well as the tag dimensions?  If yes, I wonder whether it could be please shared.  I need one and I am considering placing an order for a replica.  Thanks, Regards, Jiri

WTB Philharmonic Beam of Light Escutcheon

Anyone have a set of escutcheons for a beam of light set? Would like to have a complete set with front panel, but at least the large tuning dial brass escutcheon is needed for a set I am building. Thanks

Allwave 15 Bandswitch Position

Question for anyone with AW15 restoration experience.

Have a nice 15 (late) and had the radio working and tuning the broadcast band until the band switch started to loosen.

The set screw on the collar just before the shaft enters the gear box became loose. (Don’t touch anything if this happens to you!)

Needless to say, exact position for the turret, the antenna contact points eccentric cam…
