A good while ago I think I gave my Phil. # to Norm Braithwait so somewhere along the line it ended up on your list. I'd love to add more Scotts to my collection but two things stand in the way, price and available space. I've got a lead on another Phil and another that I don't know which one it is yet but won't be able to even get a look till Feb. They're supposed to come up for auction at the Houston Vintage Radio Club Convention.

I can't be as sure of a date for this, but probably sometime in 1933. I know it was built after Aug 1932, because I have a lower serial number with a firm date there.<br />

Dating sets is largely inference from other serial numbers and known production dates. In my data base of almost 1500 serial numbers, I've got about two dozen with "hard dates"....we have a letter or warranty document giving the date of the set. In my data base of almost 1500 serial numbers, I've got about two dozen with "hard dates"....we have a letter or warranty document giving the date of the set. Based on those and when we know Scott introduced new models, I can take a pretty good guess at most serial numbers. I get a lot of repeats reported to me as sets are bought and sold. Yours were mostly "new" serial numbers....I had the Philly in my list already from someone, the other two are new to me. I really appreciate your digging them out....every number I collect helps with the analysis. Do you have a data base on the AW-12's? I've got the a very rusty, very pitted upper chassis and as best I can read through the pitting it looks like B 231.

Thanks! The AW15 is a late set, this is one of the highest serial numbers I have for the AW15. Probably built in early 1935, just before the AW23 was introduced. The Philly, on the other hand, is early, probably built near the end of 1937 (the Philly was introduced in Apr 37). The AW15 number was very helpful to my research.

I'll be happy to. The AW-15 is N-415 and the Phil. is E-835. I know the AW was originally from the Chicago area because I got it from the original owner. The Phil. I was told also came from the Chicago area but came to Texas when the original owner relocated to the Houston area.
