Thank all of you very much.  I have deleted all of Pollard emails and never responded back to him after the email was not about Scott Radio's.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Chris

Thanks. I, too, got the “special information” message asking to contact. Since word usage was poor and not typical native speaker I deleted it.

Good thing they never asked me a question.

We all know the answer is 42.

Chris:

Thanks for your inquiry.  It's pretty simple.  James applied to join the forum under false pretenses and spoofed the security question.  The security question is simple but effectively prevents almost all individuals and robots from joining the forum if they do not have a genuine interest in the E.H. Scott Radio Laboratories.  Approval of applicants is a balancing act.  We want to protect the forum members while not preventing relatives of Scott owners from joining to learn more about their inheritance.  In the rare instance (one now since requiring an answer to a security question) that a bad apple is approved for membership, Kent and I hear about it quickly and immediately suspend the member.  When considering an applicant for approval we review their name, their e-mail address, where they are located, and who provides their e-mail service all of which can be spoofed.  After approval I check back a few times over the subsequent hours to see if the newly approved member is misbehaving.  However, if the new member chooses to wait a day or so before misbehaving, Kent and I may not be the first to know.  Contacting one of us through messaging is the best way to alert us of a problem because we will quickly receive an e-mail rather than waiting until the next time we visit the site.

Norman, I was recently contacted by this guy James Pollard through our club, I thought he wanted to discuss my Scott Radio but it ended up about some relative that died and left 5MM dollars in a bank and he was trying to get his hands on it thru me. I gave him my home email, and when I received his email I was surprised and figured it was a scam. Would you please enlighten me as to what went on?
Regards,
Chris Greiner
