The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Hello,

Looking for suggestions for repairing cloth covered chassis cables. Is brown thread just woven into the damaged areas? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello,

I have found no good way to repair rotted cloth covered wiring harnesses.  You can be certain if one section is failing, there will be more to follow.

I have used hockey tape - the cloth adhesive tape used to wrap hockey sticks - successfully. I believe that it can be obtained in colors other than black, but the last time I looked, I could not find the brown that is needed for Scott radios.

I believe that one or more of the antique automotive wiring suppliers (for some reason Rhode Island wiring comes to mind) has the ability to cloth cover custom wiring harnesses. There may be other antique wire suppliers. I have no idea what the cost might be.

I am certain that others will respond with additional ideas.
