    Well spotted I have that out of the cabinet for some maintenance and the radio up on the main bench is a 1935 Midwest which was called the poor man's Scott - I must say getting it running and listening to it shows just what a strong performer it is - tuner and amplifier wise.  I can video it if you like.

    I have a 37-690 and 38-690; excellent sets! 

    I may get lambasted for saying this, but I think the 38-690 is every bit as good as the Philharmonics are, sound and selectivity wise. The Philharmonic has other features that the Philco does not of course...

    Yes the 38-690 was a revelation when I got it working.  The Philco engineers were certainly on the ball with that radio.  Absolute pleasure to use and listen to.  I have a 38-116 sitting there that I will get to at some point...maybe...
