The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Hello to all,

First a quick word of thanks to Kent for pointing to the site and getting me started collecting info for this project. I have a very late AW23 7-knob in a Tasman cabinet. Cosmetically it's super, nice clean chassis and cabinet so it deserves to be done properly. It had been started-on by it's former owner and he gave up after encountering more troubles than he could repair. In the process he moved and some things went missing, most notably the large bottom cover for the chassis and it's associated mounting hardware. He also lost the speaker baffle, which I know won't be easy to find, but thinking it could be remade with measurements. The set originally came with accessory tweeters which I did manage to finally find, and guessing they were mounted over the main speaker on the (missing) baffle? This set also has the hole drilled and an escutcheon for a volume expander. There are two holes and a "shadow" behind the chassis where this would have been mounted. The owner says this was long gone when he acquired the set. I have been looking at these on the web and noticed there are two versions, one with a solid "can", and one with holes punched in the sides/top for ventilation. The holes are the same pattern as the top of the tube shields. Is anyone aware which version would be correct for a 7 knob AW 23? Lastly, I would be extremely grateful to hear from anyone who may have any of the above mentioned parts for sale or any leads on possibly finding them. I am slowly working through the chassis repair, so am not in a rush. It's more important that this job be "right" when all complete, as opposed to done quickly.

Thank you and regards,

Justin
