The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

While looking at my Early 800B I am restoring, I noticed that someone had already replaced a number of capacitors in the AM & SW RF compartment underneath the radio tuner chassis. I saw some unusual grounding of some bypass capacitors and this bothers me. I compared it to the AM &  SW RF compartment of my Late 800B parts chassis which has never been disturbed. It still has its bathtub capacitors that were in that compartment. The Early unit also has its bathtub capacitors still in place, but with its leads cut near the tube sockets.

I plan to remove the bathtub capacitors and go inside them and replace the internal parts there if at all possible. I just do not believe that alignment was not affected by the new parts placement and grounding techniques that were used.

For others that may have similar concerns, here is a picture of the AM & SW RF compartment from a unit that has not been disturbed.
