The Fine Things are Always Hand Made
Hi everyone-
I'm new here and have a Scott 16 that is nearly restored, but it needs a new dial cover. This is my first Scott, and I'm not quite sure how to remove the bezel. It looks like there is a large wooden panel that is held in with screws, along with 4 metal "tabs" at the corner of the bezel (see picture). Can I safely remove the bezel just by bending the 4 tabs, or is there a safer, more effective way to do this? Any guidance/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Mike

A related question- what is the best method for polishing the bezel and the knob indicators? I really don't want to mess this up! :)
I replaced the dial cover on my 16 set this past year. Its a Warrington cabinet, and as I recall, all I had to do was slide the chassis back and loosen 2 of the clips from the back side and the dial cover and the metal bezel came off from the front.
I sent the assembly to Mark Palmquist and he replaced the plastic face and re-riveted the plastic to the bezel and shipped it back to me USPS priority mail for I believe $22. I have used Mark on quite a few replacements like this and I have always been very pleased with his quality and prompt turnaround.
Bruce- thanks very much for the information- I was hoping that was all I needed to do, but I wasn't sure. I've been in touch with Mark and will be sending the bezel to him for the installation of the new cover. Thanks!
