The Fine Things are Always Hand Made
I just acquired this EH Scott radio. Can someone please identify it for me? ( model no. ,date of Manufacture etc.}
It is working properly and is complete.
You have an Allwave Fifteen from 1934. There were several variations of the circuit the most significant of which was a change from the Wunderlich detector to a type 55 tube (third tube back from front along left side).
Thanks Norman , I appreciate the help. Can you possibly give me an idea of its value in good working condition?
Allan - Do you have a cabinet with it, or just the set shown in the picture? Also, can you tell me the serial number on the tuner?
Value wise....your set has nice chrome, it would make a great display set, so it will probably command a bit more than the average set with light rust, etc. Condition matters. You also have a complete set, including the speaker. I'd say your set would be in the $300-$500 range, depending on the buyer, location, shipping, etc. A cabinet would obviously enhance the value.
No, there is no cabinet , just whats in the picture. I did see another sight unseen appraisal on here for $250.00 tom$1500.00 but I guess the high would be with a cabinet.
Thanks again, Al
Sorry Kent, I didnt see your request. The serial no is S 347
Hi, Allan. Do you want to sell this Scott radio set? I would like to buy it.
Yes , I will sell it. What would your offer be? It works fine and everything is there.
I will buy it for $300. And I will also pay the shipping and packaging. My address zip code 94704. Could you also give me an estimated shipping cost from the UPS ( pick the cheapest price). Thank you very much
I am going to check on shipping before I make any commitment. I live in a US - Canada border town and will ship from the US , otherwise the cost would be way too much. (From Canada) I live in Sault St. Marie Ontario which is a city across the bridge from Sault Ste. Marie Michigan , just a short trip for me.
So, I checked with Weir Package and Freight in Sault Ste. Marie Mich. and the cost of shipping would be about
$120.00 for shipping . I wouldnt feel comfortable unless I made proper shipping crates out of wood , 1/4 inch plywood probably. I dont know if I am ready to part with it yet so I need time to think about it.
