sensitivity comparison Phantom to Philharmonic

Looking through Scott News, Scott specified the Philharmonic at 0.5uV sensitivity (I also see Scott used what we now call MDS, which is +3db S+N/N with an AM signal).

The Phantom is spec'd at 0.6 uV, despite having 1 less RF stage and 1 less IF stage, but otherwise with the same general design features (OK - the variable selectivity is less sophisticated, but with similar RF / IF transformers, etc).  At face value, this suggests there is very very little improvement in adding the 2 extra stages.

I take the spec as Scott's guarantee that the actual sensitivity of every new Scott radio will be at least that good at all points on the dial, and SOME sets of the same model may be significantly better.

Has anyone done a rigorous comparison measuring sensitivity (as the 3db MDS, or the more common standard of 10 db S+N/N) between the Phantom and the Philharmonic, to see how much difference there really is?
