The left side top, pulls out, and is supposed to have a turntable in compartment. The right side top, has a door that you pull down, and push in so the radio comes out. it is an am/fm radio, with a green glass eye for tuning in stations. It has shortwave on it also. Dave:
1) Scott did not make any FM receivers in 1938.
2) The serial number is post war.
3) The serial number is high enough to exclude the 800B prototype receiver, the Model 800.
4) The cabinet description fits the post war Chippendale or Modern to a tee.
5) The bands are correct for the 800B and not the Metropolitan 16A or Export receiver
- OR -
It is an pre-war Laureate chassis with a post war serial number in a 800B type cabinet.
I am inclined to side with the former scenerio.
Norm, - Curious Dan seems to say only one tuning eye and not 2 like the 1946-9 Scott 800-B has. Lastly, a Scott radio/phono combination where pushing the door in under the receiver causes the receiver to extend forward from the cabinet?
