The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Early 12 tube Scott Allwave Deluxe - mid 1932 - available.

Planning to take a very nice, unrestored  SCOTT DELUXE to the Michigan Extravaganza in Kalamazoo this coming weekend. Along with a decent Scott WARRINGTON highboy cabinet for it.  The Warrington cabinet panel is cut for the DELUXE (or Scott FIFTEEN).

I consider this early example with its 2 digit serial number a milestone set. Introduced May 1932,  the DELUXE is the first Scott model with 1) true one dial tuning, 2) the patented internal coil changing wheel for short wave and 3)  chromed plated tube shields and coil covers, too. Includes the correct knobs, and correct single Scott tagged 11 inch Scott speaker (by Rola), confirming this example is very early production, say, Spring 1932.

Precedes the ALLWAVE DELUXE AVC model, so no Wunderlick tube.  Tube lineup: 80, two 45's, four 56's, four 24A's and a 51. Both the receiver and amp have very good chrome. Will include a receiver diagram (not in Rider's) and a copy of the May 1932 Scott News announcing the Scott DE LUXE. The power transformer tests good and  some replacement caps are seen, but I just haven't gone further.

Why being offered?  After several years, time to give someone else the opportunity to restore it.  Be a good project for the right collector, for this radio is complete with "eye candy" quality chrome.

Hi David. I'm new to this forum and I may be working on a Scott allwave 12 Deluxe very soon and I was wondering if you had any information on this model. I am looking for schematics and receiver diagrams for this model T53 and any other pertinent literature that you may care to divulge. I have repaired about 25 radios but have never even seen a Scott before, and I am extremely excited. By the way, what was the model number on your unit?

Go to the Scott Info Archive at the top of this site page,

Then select Set folders. find and open the folder for Allwave Deluxe.

There you will find  is technical and diagram information and more.

Your T-53 is a serial number, not model. The 2 digit serial number suggests the earlier 1932 non-AVC version.

The 12 tube Allwave Deluxe 1932-34 evolved considerably. First - determine if you have the later AVC version (automatic volume control introduced December 1932): look for a blue glass Wunderlick tube 2nd detector (3rd tube back on the left end of receiver chassis ) and  three 58 IF amp tube across the back.

If it has three 27 type IF amp tubes across the back and no Wunderlick tube, you have the 1932 non-AVC model. You might have a single speaker with 5 pin plug ( early 1932 example) or twin speaker with 6 pin plug (later 1932 to early 1933). The 12 inch pedestal speaker arrived mid 1933 and is electrically interchangeable with the twin speakers set.

Found a new home for it at Extravaganza radio meet.
