The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

question about the speaker with an Allwave 15

I recently aquired an allwave 15 and amp.  I don't have a speaker and am  looking to use a replacement until I find an original to complete the set.

I looked at the schematic and it seems there is a field coil as well as a choke in the original speaker (pedestal) housing. Is that correct?

Maybe someone who knows or has an original 12 inch pedestal speaker could let me know?

Thanks,

Jeff

Almost. One field coil as part of the high voltage power supply. The other field coil provides bias for the output tubes. The 2 coils are side by side on the same coil form.

You are unlikely to find a speaker with both field coils. But you might find a speaker with one or the other resistance. Then use a 5 or 10 watt resistor as a substitute for the other field coil. The speakers do turn up on ebay from time to time.

In addition, the speaker holds the output transformer in the pedestal base.
