While it is possible that the cabinet number may be a cabinet model serial number, this is not usually the case. For high production cabinets, the number likely identifies the matched cabinet parts within a single production run. For custom cabinets, the number may simply identify the parts for a particular cabinet cabinet when several different cabinets are being concurrently produced. I suspect the latter in this case. All we know for sure is that the number was used to identify which cabinet for which the part was made. I have no doubt that most cabinets for European Scott radios were made in Europe although a recently posted newspaper clipping indicates four Scott cabinets for South African clients were shipped from Rockford Peerless Cabinet Company in 1934.
