The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

It's 1931. Does this look a little familiar?
Who knows what radio it is part of?
Hint: It is not an E. H. Scott.
It just struck me as interesting that another radio I have in my collection uses a similar method of shielding.

Bruce, That is so curious!
The WR-8 is such a great representative of Art Deco style.
I am a firm believer that early radio design represents a true display of manufacturing art at its best.

Interestingly, The ONLY non-Scott radio I have allowed into my Great Scott room is an identical WR-8 clock radio like Ken's. People are drawn to it when they visit with its cool style. Supposedly its a player but I have never tried to play it yet.

You are right on, Norman!

It is a Westinghouse WR-8 Columaire grandfather clock radio. The radio chassis was actually an RCA Radiola Model 82.

Unlike my Scott, these covers unscrewed easily just like the cap on a peanut butter jar.

The radio now has a new clock mechanism (original) and is awaiting the day I begin working on it again.

If anyone is interested I posted details on my bloga while ago.

Thanks for taking the time to comment!
