Capehart 300 Scott Philly back together

Posted on February 25, 2015 at 8:02am 0 Comments

Finally put it all back in the original early 1930's Capehart 300 cabinet. Philly chrome is super nice and plays like a million bucks thanks to Bill L for his electrical restoration

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to being a menber of the group. I do not have any unique or rare Scotts but do have several from an AW12 two dial to Philharmonics.

Best regards,
Rich

Thank you very much for your reply and info.  I do recall that back in about 1976 while getting the set operating I was required to buy four 2A3 tubes . As I recall they were well over $ 200.00 at that time and I was required to wait for a sufficient (months) period until the manufacturer had a sufficiently sized order before he would produce them.  Actually the set hasn't been turned on since that time. I was reasonably young and footloose at the time so I loaned the set to a local technical museum where it sat on display, for 10-15 years. It was probably the best thing I could have done or I would have likely lost it.

Do you have any idea what the set is worth?

Thanks Bruce for your comments,....at some point i'll have to get the Scotts organized and on display properly. I have sets in my garage that need to be brought out and displayed and admired like they should be as well. I really like your 16 in the Warrington cabinet.

Hello Bruce,...the Scott 16 in the Warrington cabinet is in an Imperial (AW/23) sized cabinet. I don't know why this is, as this little chassis would surely fit in an Allwave 15 sized cabinet easily.

Did you mean the Tasman with the 16 ? That's the one I was inquiring about vs the Tasman you have with the Philly in it size wise/
