Hello, I got my Philharmonic all back together and it is working with plenty of volume but I have 2 issues and they might be related--there is a lot of microphonic noise & rumble in the background and tapping the 6L7G tubes in the expander changes the noise. I subbed the tubes but the microphonic noise and rumble still is present also, I removed the 6L7 tubes and the noise goes away but no audio as they are used as part of the audio amplifier circuit--the expander control has no effect on…See More

Hello everyone, continuing my restoration on my Philharmonic and it is going very well. I recapped both the tuner & PS/Amp unit and reconed the 15" speaker as the cone was mostly destroyed. I cleaned both chassis and they look much better now than they did when I first got the radio. The 2 tweeters are both good. I have the correct reproduction grille cloth will be working on that part shortly. I used reproduction cloth covered wire for all the IF grid clip leads and the tuning capacitor…See More

For your Warrington lid support, you can probably find a satisfactory substitute at you Home Depot or Lowes in the same area as cabinet handles. Better quality at a Woodcraft store if one is somewhere near.…"

"Kenneth, for the B+ divider resistor the Ohmite D50K5K0E is a great choice. You will need extra taps for it which is part number 2121E, and the threaded mount is 7PA50E. It is a 5K ohm resistor and works well in these sets. "
