This is one of the WW2 morale radios of E H Scott design. For Merchant Marine and US Navy.

Designed for safe operation at sea, being low radiation and, so, undetectable by German subs.

Thanks, Tom, yes indeed. It is an excellent radio. All I did to make it reliable and usable was replace all 4 electrolytic can condensers, and replace the input line "death caps" with modern safety caps. (the originals tested OK once removed. They are sealed in an oil filled bathtub, as are all the paper condensers, so I didn't bother replacing any of the others. They almost never fail as long as their bathtubs remain hermetically sealed. I also replaced the antenna input connector, for which the mate is almost unobtainable, with a modern SO-239. I didn't even have to touch the alignment! The radio works amazingly well on all bands.

It looks like it didn't have a lot of use. The magic eye tube's anode/target has a nice bright silver look to it. When the tube ages, the anode/target takes on a much darker appearance. A very nice radio and beautifully made!
