The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

I recently purchased an early Philharmonic with the West Coast dial, I am in the process of dismantling, cleaning and repair. The dial glass is cracked and needs replaced, the long pointer is attached with a set screw and comes off easily but the small pointer is stuck in place. I do not know if the small pointer pulls off like the dial pointer for a vintage clock or if it unscrews. I do not want to damage the pointer so I am unsure how to proceed. I am sure many of the members here have performed the removal of the small pointer? Your help will be much appreciated.

I have no idea why I am just seeing this older post, but yes the small pointer is just press fit.  Carefully pry it off.

Hi Scott

Thank you for your reply, I did finally figure it out. Even after spray lubricant I had to hold the gear behind the face plate with pliers and another pair of pliers on the pointer. A pretty good little twist before it came off.

Regards
