Thanks Kent, I will definitely check out the archive material and will take a closer look at the underside of both in the next few weeks, unfortunately still working and not easy to find some spare time to get out in my own lab , after being in the lab almost of the day. I will definitely reach out if I need any parts. Yeah, before any power is applied I will do the full clean, checkout, tube check, cap check, an bring up slow with my Varic and max. current limiting 150W bulb, etc.
Thanks
ERIC
So, you have an Allwave 12 Deluxe in an early Tasman cabinet, and an AW23 (Allwave High Fidelity) in a Warrington cabinet. This is the later chassis (1936), with the optional tweeters (valuable). That set will be a great performer once restored. Oh, the 12 will too, but the 23 runs circles around a 12. Watch that 23 amp - I see a globe tube in there where there should be a 2A3, don't power up the sets until EVERYTHING is checked over, tubes are right, etc. Even then, use of a Variac is a really good idea. I do a full restoration (cleaning, recap, etc.) before I apply any power.
Info on both of these is all here on the site - go to the "Scott Info Archive" link at the top, then navigate to "Set Folders" and everything you'll need is in the appropriate folder for each model. Ask if you have questions, everyone here will help. email me if you need odd parts: kent3256@hotmail.com
