The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

I have a seven knob set, probably a XII, serial # WW-132. Can anyone confirm that. I have seen similar with 5 knobs.

From the serial number I can confirm it is a Super XII.

A Scott Super 12 is a 12 tube radio with the round black Stradivarius dial. The 1st version had the power transformer and rectifier tube on the receiver chassis, making it the only single chassis Scott made in the 1930's. The two 6V6 output tubes are located on the receiver at the back without tube shields.

Most versions have a 2 speed tuning knob and 4 other controls - Volume, Wave/Band switch, Bass & Selectivity. Four frequency bands, BC and 3 short wave.

The next version relocated the power transformer and rectifier tube to a separate small chassis. Still a 12 tube radio counting the little one tube power supply.

Third version added two additional controls: Radio/phono & Sensitivity. Still a 12 tube radio with the one tube power supply. May have a 5th ultra high frequency band for receiving television audio (prewar TVs did not receive the audio)

Not to be confused with the 14 Scott Masterpiece (which replace the Super 12 model) which has the same dial, 6 controls plus tuning but has a  3 tube amp/power supply with rectifier and the two 6V6 output tubes.

Post a photo so someone can confirm it, or not.
