The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Just bought an AW12 tuner and power supply, but it is missing some key stuff.  Anyone know where I can get:

1. set of coils (I think it has the AM pair)

2. knobs (4 of them)

3. speaker (10 inch non-pedestal jensen)

If I can find these parts, I may be in the market for  a cabinet.

Thanks,

Joe

The knobs used on the Allwave Superhetrodyne (AW-12, two dial) were generic types used on many receivers with very minor differences.  They are around but seldom if ever identified as Scott in advertisements.  I believe the speaker was made by Rola.

I picked up my new AW12 yesterday and I think it is in very good shape electrically.

The chasses have some light rust on them and I noticed that it will scrape off with a gentle pursuasion with a knife edge.  What is the best way to remove this kind of light rust?  Will naval jelly work or should I "buff it"?

Thoughts?

I like Turtle Chrome polish,  a liquid, available in the auto polish section of your auto, hardware or discount stores. I use small pieces of old towels, and change them often to minimize accumulated rust and grit  further damaging the chrome.

I agree, Rola made the speaker, but the speaker would have a Scott decal.  This speaker is seen with the 2-Dail (the first chrome model although the tube and coil covers were just polished aluminum), and also was initially used for awhile with the 1st version Deluxe (first all chrome model and first use of the coil change wheel inside, but no AVC yet) all chrome.  I recently found one on ebay, so they occasionally do appear. I will upload a rear photo from my photo file, as seen in a cabinet.. The paint is a very dark brown.  And if you like I can take a front and rear photo of one to up load.

And a file photo of a 2-Dial showing the knobs, which are 1 inch diameter.  - Dave

Here are the knobs and speaker with my Scott Dual dial - This cabinet also has a complete rack with all the spare plug in coils built in on the back top near the lid hinge.

Thanks for the info guys.  I found a lot of good info on Kent's reference site too.

The dial strings on both of my  dials are broken.  Anyone know how to restring these and in a way that properly syncs them?
