The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Hi all,
I just got an AM Phantom Deluxe serial #UU-42. The schematics available differ from mine. The PS uses 5V4 and 6V6 tubes on mine and the main receiver does not use a VR tube.

Is this an early production set or just one of the variants?

Nice Acousticraft cabinet and is complete and stock.

Thanks,

Tom

Welcome to the forum! Given the low serial number and the lack of a VR tube, I'd say this is an earlier Phantom. The first sets that came out had fewer controls and no VR, the later additions were what is properly called the "Deluxe" Phantom. I <may> have a schematic for the earlier version, but even so, Scott sets frequently vary some from the diagrams due to changes made both at the factory and later. Go to:

and look for the Phantom materials. I know there is a PDF of an earlier owner's manual there...

As you get into working on the set, don't hesitate to ask questions here, there are lots of experienced folks here willing to help out. Good luck and good find!

Thanks,

I checked in the book "E H Scott radio collectors guide" by Clark and it appears to be a phantom 7 knob, not a Deluxe, maybe 1938.

As far as working on it, I am, haven't found any issues yet, except cleaning and a few hardware issues to repair. I'll post photos when it gets more presentable.
