The Fine Things are Always Hand Made
I was just searching eBay and saw the usual advertisements from 1943 National Geographic magazines for the Scott SLR radio. I thought that this radio was the ship-board Morale Radio. But then I see a radio for sale that's listed as the Morale Radio. Which radio is which?

As I understand the Scott military receivers, the SLR receivers including the SLRM were morale receivers produced under contract for the Merchant Marines. The RBO and RCH receivers were morale receivers produced under contract for the US Navy. The navy version of the SLRM was the REE but I am not aware of any surviving receiver with the REE nomenclature. Scott also produced an RCK receiver (not to be confused with the National RCK receiver) for aircraft to ship communication and an RDO receiver for detection of enemy radar.

There were multiple versions of the Moral Receivers built. This is just one design that has a built in speaker and AC/DC operation. The SLR-M was the designation for merchant ship receivers, and the REE designation was for the Navy. But from what I gather, they are the exact same receiver.
See page 127 of "The Dean of DX" book for a pic and description of that receiver that you link to.

Ahhh, York PA....Nice place.
I am out there every January for the Cabin Fever Expo at the County Fairgrounds. I'll have to check out the Museum.
Worried about someone blowing out the speaker? If it was my radio I would not want the display to be hands on!!

Thanks.....and I have that book, duh!!!.....The museum where I work www.yorkheritage.org is working on an exhibit on WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. My SLR-12B could end up in the exhibit, so I'm checking all of my facts. I'm already thinking of some issues, like limiting the volume for one thing. I can't have people blowing out a speaker.
