Has Anyone ever had the privalege of standing in the same room with one of these
big dawgs. All i have is a drawing ,..If anyone has a pic,..I sure would like to see it. Pretty decent looking cabinet.

A nice looking WLW Super Power 37 tube radio sold at Estes Auction in Ohio in April 2007. Decent cabinet, It was missing some speakers and the Power Supply. Must have had a dozen different veneers. I did not take a picture. November 2007 Antique Radio Classified has a couple black and white photos - page 21.

The WLW at Estes was purchased by James Bragg. I believe the set is fully restored by now.

Why is "Lincoln" in the subject line? I do not believe the Crosley WLW had any association with Lincoln.

Sorry ,It took me so long to respond ,Norman ,.. I had to brush through the spider webs to find out what you were talking about,..
In the back of Puett's "The Classic Radio Collectors Handbook", on the next to the last page, he had kind of run things together in the pics, and when I saw the Lincoln Symphonic, just to the right was the Crosley WLW.
Well, Crosley didn't even come to mind. I just thought it was one of Lincoln's creations. No one has even corrected me on it,.. till now,...Thanks. I guess I must tell you,..I have only been in radio for a little over a year but, I love learning about them. I am like the robot "Johnny five" on the movie, "Short Circuit",..I need IIIIIIINNNNPUUUUTT. So , thanks for setting me straight,...You guys save me the embarrassment and please don't wait so long to correct me next time. :o

Understandable confusion! I have an edition of Flick of the Switch that shows a McMurdo Silver on the Scott page! In the early days of radio collecting AC consoles did not get the attention they deserved, hence some errors in publications.

I wish I had known Mr.Puett, God rest his soul, I imagine he would have been great to spend some time with.
Being so close to me ,..It would have been easy to schedule visits with him. All that he did was commendable in my book. To have him just scribble HIS knowledge on some index cards, would have been good enough for me. He was probably pressed for time and was wishing he could have done more publications. I only wish I had found radio sooner, or I should say it found me.
This being Veterans Day, I will say God bless you to all the very old guys who fought for their country. Not only to veterans in war but to the veterans who made history in all things,.. I say thanks to a each and every one of them,.. You know there will soon come a day when we don't have any of them still around to share there knowledge with us.
We must realize this and learn all that we can, so we can carry it on.
