Not exactly standard but not uncommon either.  It was part of the optional loop antenna package for customers in apartments or other locations where outside antennas were not permitted or practical.

Hi Darrell, 

Standard antenna for an 800 B.  I have seen this on many 800's, most of which were in cabinets.
