Thanks for your inquiry. The design patent protected the owner of the patent against copies of the basic cabinet design. See http://www.google.com/patents/about?id=WWhrAAAAEBAJ&dq=90657
It might have been a good idea for EH Scott Radio Laboratories to obtain a design patent for the Warrington console. With the exception of the round decorations on the grill bars, it seems like many companies copied the basic design of the Warrington console.

Standard Westerly console and custom Westerly Grande console have the same number patent 90657.
