"I made a dial window for my AW23. It had the original window when I got it (this style: https://www.radiodaze.com/scott-lens-early-5-knob/), but it was a shrinky dink. I ordered some colored overhead slides, cut little strips, and tiled them…"

"Hi Thom, yes I have the 7 knob version, with one ANT. post. My serial number is Q-487. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to add a couple chassis pictures, I'm still trying to learn how to navigate this site!"

"For the later 7 knob, frosted not clear. I got the part number correct. The lamp projects dial strip graphics onto the escutcheon insert. Tuning meter tiny pointer also projects onto the dial insert."

Color Dial Window, Allwave 23

Posted on July 11, 2021 at 8:36pm 11 Comments

Hi all, I'm new here, but an EH Scott admirer since I first learned of them, about 32 years ago. I finally acquired my first, and likely my only Scott radio, an Allwave 23, in a Warrington Cabinet. It's missing the color dial "window" only. I have the escutcheon, but would like to find a color window. Have any reproduction windows been made, or does any member have an extra one? Thanks in advance, I'd appreciate any help! Dave Pike

Dave. Thanks for accepting my request. May I ask what the serial number is.  I got

my allwave 23 in 2011 from a local collector in the suburbs. From the condition of the chassis and cabinet, I don’t think it got too far from Chicago. Mine is an early 5 knob version K480. I had to have a new power transformer made by Heyboer transformer in Grand Haven. I did a recap on the tuner chassis while waiting for the transformer. About 6 years ago I bought a second Allwave 23 chassis off of ebay. This one had been ‘modified’ by a previous owner and is in rough shape with pitted chrome. It sat under my work bench til this year when I finally started a complete rebuild and cleaned 80 years of dirt. The chrome cleaned up pretty well. What interested me about yours is that it is a7 knob with single antenna post while my k480 is 5 knob single antenna post, My j497 is a 5 knob with 2 antenna posts.I still have work to do on it and build a power supply for it.  Once I have j497 done then I will start on k480. It works, but needs an alignment to get it working properly.  There is a photo of mine on line and in the photo section on this list. Check out facebook and look for me. Thom.
