AM/FM Phanto Deluxe phono problem.

I'm using a Garrard 60 MKII with an Ortofon OM 5e cartidge. I get no volume when hooking directly to the phono in screw. When I go through a preamp, I get less than half volume. The schematic shows…Continue

My hunt is now on for knobs. This Phantom came with mixed incorrect plastic knobs. Can anyone post a pic of what all the correct knobs should look like? Thanks,Pat Continue

For those of you that have replaced the 78 changer to one that plays 33/45, what changer do you have, and are you happy with it. Or what changer do you wish you had? And I assume you have a stereo…Continue

"Thanks, David. I'll remove everything else. I have tried a preamp with a 35db gain, and volume is still low. So I've ordered a preamp with a variable gain of up to 60db."

"My Phantom Deluxe diagram says a .025 cap between the positive phono terminal and the radio/phono switch, and nothing else.  I used the commonly available 0.022 Mfd film cap. The Scott input is for a higher output phono cartridge, as Scott was…"

AM/FM Phanto Deluxe phono problem.

I'm using a Garrard 60 MKII with an Ortofon OM 5e cartidge. I get no volume when hooking directly to the phono in screw. When I go through a preamp, I get less than half volume. The schematic shows that the phone terminal goes directly to the waver switch through what appears to be a .005 mfd cap. However I have a 2 meg resister in parallel with a mica cap (can't tell the value) connected directly to the phono terminal. At that point, there is a 560K resistor to ground, and a .02 mfd cap going…See More

"Definately not rep wood. Like I said, they are chalk-like. You can scrape them. They are all like that. I used lacquer thinner, and it took the finish off and left them white."

2 piece knobs?

The knobs that came with my Phantom were quite worn down. I found this unusual, since you don't grab the front of the knob to turn it, you use the side. So I decided to clean them up and inspect them. They are not all wood! The top came off, and appears to be some sort of chalk. Makes no sense. The bottom is wood only. I checked the six I had, and they were all the same. Were they made this way?…See More

"Yeah, I hear you. I bought a couple...if you're buying a whole set, it gets very pricey very fast. But if you only need one or two, it's palatable to pay the cost. "
