A late 7 knob version complete with Tasman cabinet, good chrome, and without tweeters similar to what you have posted in terms of condition, recently sold for close to $1,500.00 on eBay. Do you have the Scott cabinet that goes with it? From my experience it seems between the $1,000.00 mark and $2,000.00 mark is what a typical AW23 sells for in todays market. Value of course depends on condition, if the unit is complete, and cabinet style. Tweeters will increase value and can elevate a sale. Some cabinets are more desirable than other, rarity of cabinet style plays a large factor when it come's to value. I would like to hear what the experts think.

The TASMAN cabinet, although substantial and a nice design, is clearly the most commonly seen and therefore does not command as much as almost any other AW-23 cabinet with a hinged top, in my opinion. I would ascribe over 2/3rd's of that sale price to the chassis in it.

No cabinet with this Scott, as you see it in the photo ! the seller paid a lot of money many years ago for this Scott and of course its a 240 volt set.

I agree with you on the Tasman cabinet. Steve, the Tasman cabinet was a lower priced cabinet and featured on several occasions as a promotional to draw new customer base.

No cabinet, no problem. You still have a very desirable, expensive, and complete unit there. Parallel push pull 2A3 output alone would fetch a high dollar. Chrome looks to be very good. Condition of the chrome is a huge factor in determining value. A cabinet can be found in time if desired. There are several cabinet styles that can fit a AW23. The Tasman and Waverly cabinets are just two of several that will fit a late version AW23. Now the receiver in question has a factory wood panel on the front, so you would have to do away with this portion if wanting to fit in a cabinet described just above. Original customers had the option of buying receivers without cabinets too. This could be the situation with this unit you are deciding on. May I ask what the trade is for this AW23? Might help to determine if this will be a fair trade for you.

Thanks for giving a few more details. Strictly my opinion from what I see on the current collector market, I feel that what is pictured above is worth between $1,200 and $1,800 dollars. Even for Scotts, the market has depreciated a bit for quite a few years now. A cabinet would raise the price even higher and would seal the deal if it were me. A question to ponder: Would you look for a cabinet to house all components or leave as is when using? I can say in terms of performance, it will blow most everything out of the water radio wise marketed in the mid 1930's.

Gday Jon,
I would make a custom art deco cabinet to retro fit the components, I have been restoring vintage radios for 30+ yrs now and I think I could do something nice that's if I decide to buy this unit, any Scott in Aussie is rare because of the huge shipping costs and customs etc, I have also been offered a 800B as a trade also, this is not in cabinet either :-) here's a sample of my restoration work !
