EH SCOTT Chassis

I have this EH Scott radio that I am trying to get some info on.  What you see in the pics is what I have.  Evidently the cabinet got separated from the radio and this is it.  Where should I look to determine which model, or do you tell by the dial and knobs?  All the chrome looks like it is new.  Anybody have a value estimate?

Your photo shows the tuner chassis for a Scott AM Philharmonic, Revised, commonly referred to as the AM "beam of light" Philharmonic.  Do you also have a power supply/amplifier chassis and speaker?

You have part of a 30 tube Scott Philharmonic circa 1940-41. That Stradivarius dial with the logging scale (little window at the top of the dial) places it as 1940 or 1941.  You show only the 24 tube receiver (tuner) which has an AM band and five shortwave bands. It requires the proper 6 tube power supply and proper speaker to complete the radio.

The 6 tube Power Supply has two rectifier tubes (either two 5Z3 or perhaps two 5U4) plus  four 6L6 output tubes -  amp dimensions about 5 inches wide and 23 inches long. The standard speaker is a special 15 inch Magnavox pedestal speaker and optional pair of tweeters for high fidelity, ... or if well into 1940  or later production, then perhaps a special flange mount 15 inch  Magnavox speaker ... or a different flange mount Magnavox together with an outboard crossover and optional tweeter pair. The speaker has a tapped field coil as part of the high voltage circuit..

Please supply the serial number on the rear metal tag - one or two alpha and a 3 digit number.  AA-NNN

For more information on your radio, go to the  top of this website page and select  Scott information archive  then select set folders  look down the page and select Philharmonic.   Look for the operation Manual for the 9 knob BOL    open and look through the manual for general description and operating features. You will find information on the amp and control functions, etc.. That will get you started.  Also browse for threads on the "Philharmonic".

The Philharmonic was the most highly developed radio Scott made before World War Two. These were custom built. There were a number of cabinets the customer might order for it.

It sounds like you are interested in selling.  If so, let me know as I have the correct power supply/amplifier and 15" pedestal speaker for it.

I am interested in selling, and I have a speaker for it too, I just don't have a pic of it yet.
