The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Hello All,

I just found the schematic for the Scott old-to-new FM converter.

I want to replicate one.  I am busy collecting the parts.  So far I have two of the three 717A tubes.

Does anyone have a picture of the innards?  I want to see how Scott placed the parts.

I have an FM Philharmonic.  Where does one mount  the bandswitch shaft?  Drill a hole in the front panel?  I hope not.  Does it replace an existing shaft?

Has anyone replicated the converter?

Howard - I have one of these units, I will try to open it up sometime and take some good pictures. I may also be able to help you with one more 717A, I need to check.

The operation and service manual for the Scott FM converter has just about all information needed for a close reproduction. I scanned a copy of the manual at the office this afternoon and e-mailed it to the home address for touch up and posting. Unfortunately I misspelled the home e-mail address! I will post the manual after the next visit to the office. I have many 717A tubes available if Kent does not have an extra.

Hello Kent,

Thanks for the replay. Will appreciate the pictures and help with the 717A. I have the bandswitch, caps, coil forms, and today i found a chassis box.

I plan to use this converter with my Philharmonic FM. where does the bandswitch shaft go? Do I have to drill a hole in the font panel?

Thanks again,

Howard
