Philharmonic speaker baffle?

Hi friends,

This is what I found when I removed the 15" speaker from it's board to replace the old grill cloth.

What can you tell me about the baffle... or, whatever it's called.

Scott-Tausher sound board.  It was intended to mitigate the beam effect of sound coming from a curvalinear speaker cone.  In practice it muffled all sound from the speaker making it more of a sales gimmick than a sound improvement.  It is better displayed on a wall than placed in front of a speaker.

Thanks for letting me know.  I figured it was a "sales" gimmick of some sort.

I use a couple of these to protect the cones of speakers that are not installed in cabinets.
