Scott serial numbers

As most of you know, I've been gathering and analyzing Scott serial numbers for over 20 years. I have a couple requests....first, if you haven't sent me your serial numbers, please do. Also...if any of you have a confirmed date for a set/serial number, please send me that. There is a warranty tag on ebay at the moment, these are great, since they have the date and serial number on them. A letter with a date is also good confirmation. I would greatly appreciate any info you fellows can provide. I'll post more about serial numbers here in the future.

I have AM Philharmonic serial number XX-129 with power supply BB-291, and red ultra shortwave band on the dial.   It appears "special" in that there are antenna, RF1, RF2, and oscillator ultra shortwave coils, brown bakelite (instead of ceramic) sockets for RF1, RF2, mixer, and oscillator tubes, and VR150 regulator tube is right next to the oscillator tube.   I don't know why Scott would place another source of heat next to the oscillator tube, as it would affect the stability on the ultra shortwave band.   Does anyone know how "special" these features are, and whether Scott would normally ship power supply with same serial number as receiver?

Doug...there is no correlation between the power supply numbers and the set serial numbers. Over the years many of these have been swapped, it would be nearly impossible to infer anything from the sets and supplies as they sit today.

I noticed that you are collecting the serial nos. of Scotts.  I just came up with a AW27 or Baby Quaranta in a Ravinia Grande cabinet and its serial number is Z-558.  I also have a Phantom Deluxe (AM only) in a Braemar cabinet with no. XX-162.  I just joined your group on Saturday and am slowly finding my way around in here!  Thanks!

Eric - Thanks....both of those are "new" numbers for me. The AW27 is a great find, yours makes #16 that I have serial numbers for. We have no documentation on the AW27, but if you need info for the Phantom, let me know. Both sets are worth saving, hope folks here can lend a hand.  - Kent

Thanks...I'm finding out that the AW27 is pretty rare.  Glad that there is a serial number base on these Scotts and a historian as well!  I will be posting some photos of this set in the near future.

I purchased a Phantom AM/FM in a Wellington cabinet this weekend at the Kutztown auction.  It needs some help, and parts, but the chrome is not to bad.  The serial number is SS-286.

Kent, I have no dates but my Scott 800B has serial number  8002855 and I've got a parts tuner that has serial number 8001603.

It won't be here for a few weeks, but allow me to give you serial number RR-290 for an FM Philharmonic in a Warrington cabinet!

Also serial number W-586 for a 7-knob Allwave 23 tuner chassis (I do not have the amp). I purchased it as a bare chassis and placed it inside an empty Tasman cabinet drilled for a 7-knob AW 23.

Serial number 297 for my SLRM marine radio.

I also have an RBO out in the garage, will send its serial number later.

Hi Kent,

I am a recent member. I have what I think is an Allwave 15. It is in a Westimister cabinet. Serial no. is Q323. I have no experience with radios but planned to restore it someday.....well someday never came. I have had it in storage for about 15 years. It is continuing to deteriorate so I plan to sell it. It is very rough condition. To the point that I don't know if it would be worth selling as parts or complete. I think all the big parts are there but the chassis is starting to rust on the sides. Missing some smaller parts like knobs and dial. Planning to get it out of storage and posting some pictures here in a week or two.

Does the serial # give any confirmation of the model?

Yes, Q-323 is an AW15. Do not just pitch it....even if it is rough, there are folks here that may restore or use it. I suggest that you get some photos together and post it here. We charge nothing to sell it here, and you can be sure that whoever gets it will make some good use of the set. Please let me know if you have any questions.
