Phantom Power supply
My Phantom has had the power transformer replaced sometime in the past. I also am not sure if the can filter capacitors are original. Does anyone out there have an original unit out, where you can easily take some closeup pictures of the top and bottom view so I can compare to what I have. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Can you place a photo here so that I can see what version you have? There are several different Phantom supplies as the sets evolved. Also, don't be so sure about the power transformer: if this is an FM Phantom manufactured late, many of these have power supplies with a black transformer. There is some literature suggesting that Scott had heat problems with the chrome units in the larger later sets (FM Philly and Phantom). A photo will help to be sure I can locate a similar supply to send you some pics to compare with....thanks!

Ah....THAT Phantom supply...ok, agree, that is a replaced power transformer. I will check on what I have available. Looks like one of the caps may be original, but two are likely replacements. I will check tonight to see if I have a transformer for you...thanks, the picture helps a lot! - Kent

Here are some picture of my supply...I am not sure my capacitors are original, but they look like they are (no signs of re-soldering).

Thanks for the pictures of your supply. Pretty interesting that your supply has the holes for three capacitors but one is plugged. I suppose one of the caps has 2 sections in it. I went ahead and recapped the supply and amp. My set plays and it appears that someone has maybe restrung the dial string and the pointer does not cover the complete dial before the string binds up. Any ideas where I could find a stringing diagram? I still need to do a lot of other work to the main chassis and I am going to try and get Hank Brazeal to recone the speaker for me. Someone else tried to repair the speaker around the edges with a heavy brittle glue that has cracked badly. I think Alan jesperson sells some reprints of service literature do you know if this info is worth having. All I have access to is my riders information.
