Scott Super Special

Hi everyone,

My friend has acquired a Scott Special Communications receiver and we are presently cleaning and evaluating it's condition. We wondered if any copies of the user manual or other technical documents exist and might be available. Serial number JJ256 for those keeping track. The set has unfortunately been stored improperly and been "fiddled" with. We are hoping to place it on life support and possibly get her functional without any original component replacement. Early tests look good. Any assistance would be appreciated.

A final note on the Scott Special. My friend has decided to keep it original for now. We lifted one end of a half dozen or so of the leakiest caps and did our best to tune her up. The results were quite stunning, better than 2 uV sensitivity on broadcast with all original tubes resistors and most caps. SW came in strong up to band seven. Fidelity is truly amazing from the box speaker. We listened to it all afternoon as if Christmas had come again. Hopefully he will change his mind and rebuild it as it was obviously "born to perform"

Iggy - I'll get these emailed....which model of the Philharmonic (there are owner manuals for the pointer dial, deluxe and AM/FM....)

Yes Kent,the Philarmonic is the XXX 30 tubes.If there are several manual,I just look for the main one concerning the electronic maintenance.
