EH Scott Radio Enthusiasts

The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

I just began having an interest in EH Scott Radios a few days ago and found this forum earlier Today. For some reason I picked out a video to watch this Evening and it was "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" a 1941 film starring Robert Montgomery as a Prize Fighter. I was stunned in about the middle of the movie when they showed an EH Scott radio- it is the same radio that is in your photos marked Capehart_2  !

Is that a coincidence?

Has anyone else seen this movie?

Thanks,

Frank

I have not seen that movie, but spotting old radios in movies is a popular activity among collectors. The photo you referred to (capehart_2) is a high end Capehart receiver, not a Scott. There are a number of photos in the forum of competing sets, including high end Capehart, Zenith, McMurdo-Silver and others. There is a movie still photo in the pictures that does have a Scott shown, it is near the beginning of the photo files.

I gather from your statements and profile that you do not own any Scott sets yet, right? Do you collect old radios?

Kent

Kent, you are correct. I have just recently become aware of these radios and haven't ever even seen or heard one play. I have just begun collecting and the best thing I have so far is a Philco 38-116. I really like radios that not only look good put perform as well. That is why I am gravitating towards high tube count Philco,Zenith and now learning about these other brands as well..

We love old movies and it is fun to look for old radios in the background. Thanks for clarifying about the Capehart, I wasn't sure about that but I knew I had seen it on this forum.

Do you know where I might go to actually see a Scott in person? I live in Tennessee but my wife and I love to travel in our little Mini-Motorhome.

Thanks,

Frank
