The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Curious how the remote motor drive engages tuning condenser and how it couples with dial Knob ? In the event the remote fails or missing, is manual tuning seemless ? I know this is either/or tuning with my 800b, but I’ve no experience with the Philly.

Remote operation of the Philharmonic tuner is the same as that for the Model 800B except for a change in remote keyboard wiring to accommodate FM stations on the 800B.

However, the 800B also has front panel station preset buttons that also operate the tuning motors and the AM/FM relay switch regardless of whether a remote keyboard is connected.

The prewar  Philharmonic has no station preset buttons. Only the remote keyboard operates the tuning motor and volume control. A remote control Philharmonic can also be tuned as usual with the tuning knob, but you can feel the drag of the preset housing on the back of the receiver.

Thanks fellas, appreciate the comments.
