Info needed on Radio

Hello all-

I was cleaning out my in-laws garage and came across a Scott Radio that had been sitting for years and years in their garage.  From what I have been able to find online- it looks like an Allwave 23- 5 knob, probably about 1935.  The cabinet definitely needs some work and refinishing, its not warped or split just scratched up and dirty.   All the interior parts are still inside, all the vacuum tubes, speaker etc.  Its missing 2 knobs on the front but the plastic strip showing the station is intact.  I can add some pics if that would help, but my father in law wanted it to go to the dump and I thought I'd do some checking around first to see if has any value.   Can anyone please advise me about the collectability of this radio? Or if there is a market for it?  Even if someone wanted it for parts I'd rather see someone use it than dump it.  Thank you-

Thanks for the info Norman,  If you were serious I would be willing to part with it for that price.  I saved it from a trip to the dump so any money I sell it for is just bonus for me. My father in law was ready to trash it, Im not interested in shopping it around forever so I would be happy to send it home to someone that could appreciate it.  I'd be happy to post some more pics so you can see exactly what shape its in and what components are there before you made the drive.

Thanks for the offer!  Before I take you up on the offer, I would like others who may be interested in completing and restoring the set have a chance at it.  I already have an excellent example of that model and would only use it for parts.  Are you in a hurry to dispose of it?

I am not really in a hurry to dispose of it but I am not looking to hold onto it forever either, especially if someone else can find enjoyment with it.  The offer is there, but if you could recommend any places to advertise it I would be grateful for that as well.  Maybe Craigslist? Also, for any other forum members I would be willing to make the same deal, you would have to arrange pickup however.  Too bad there are not more Scott fans in my area!

You may want to consider posting in the radio classified section of Antique Radio Forums, http://www.antiqueradios.com/forums/index.php.  There is no charge to join.  If you are only asking $200 for the set, you will be besieged with responses.  In the unlikely event that you do not sell it, I am planning a trip to family property near Cedar City in August and will happily go out of my way to purchase the set.

I would love to purchase it.  I cannot find Plycon Global.  Unless you are willing to crate it and bring it to a common carrier (such as yellow lines, etc.), I guess shipping will be out of the question.  You would have to remove the speaker and chassis and ship them separately or they may get damaged being inside the cabinet.  Is this chassis missing chrome tube covers?  It looks like some are missing from what little I can see of it.

By the way, what kind of speaker is it? 12" or 15"? 760 Ohm field coil? Any shunt coils?

Here is a pic of the serial number and the top of the chassis- hopefully this is clear enough to see if the tube covers are all there, for what little I know I dont see any tubes exposed so I think they are all there.

Leonid- Im not sure but it looks like a 12 inch speaker - here is a closer pic of it.
