The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

This is concerning the PM tweeters.

There was the silver type PM tweeter that was used with the pedestal speaker and the black "bullet" style used with the 4 pc HiFi option. Both are 16 ohms. Both have a screw on the center of the cover. I've attached some pictures. I don't have any pictures of the cone side of the earlier silver types, but the bullet style had a wooden diffuser screwed into the front of the magnet.

2 questions -

Does the silver style have the wooden diffuser or, is the magnet threaded to accept the diffuser?

Taking into account the wiring differences, Can the bullet style cover be used on the silver style?

The reason I ask is in my quest to find a good tweeter for my FM Philharmonic, If the silver style could work it would be another possibility.

A 4th picture of the inside of the bullet tweeter I have. I don't have any inside pics of the silver style, if someone has a pic to share and any info related to my questions above that would be most appreciated. Thanks, Karl

Both pair of my  Phily PM silver tweeters have the wire mesh covering and no wood diffuser, like Scott Seickel 's photo

My 1941 hi-fi multi unit speaker system tweeter has field coil magnet, small 4 pin plug  and no wood diffuser nor a rear cover, same as an FM Phantom's Fi-fi system tweeters I used to have.

Currently, I don't have a bullet type tweeter for comparison.

Thanks Scott & David!
