It has some unusual features- tweeters, warranty card is dated 5/5/38 but dial doesn't seem to match dateline listed in an older post here. The Owner's manual is for the earlier chassis with dial pointer. Both chassis look pretty good. Serial # is BB176

A couple thoughts...the warranty tag is different than some I've seen. The set still has fewer knobs, but has the BOL dial, red band and logging scale. I strongly suspect this set was originally a pointer set (which would fit the serial number)  and that it went back to the factory at some point for an upgrade. We know Scott did this, bringing sets up to the current design as much as they could. The May 1938 date would fit better with the upgrade - they hadn't introduced the additional knobs yet, but had upgraded the dial by then. That's certainly an interesting set and very nice. Restoring it and comparing schematics with the set would help to date it (as well as looking for potential factory update work).

I agree with Kent. Your May 1938 production date (and the 6 controls plus the push-pull scratch suppressor button below the tuning knob) strongly indicates it was built with the pointer dial, introduced mid 1937.

The first BOL dial was announced late 1938, without logging scale and continuing the same six control arrangement as the previous pointer dial and your example.

The logging scale dial upgrade was introduced in the very late 1939 Scott News as the new 1940 dial. By then the additional two controls appeared (separate treble control and relocated scratch suppression switch), which your example does not have.

The dial may have been changed by Scott if the set was returned to the factory, say, for warrantee work. Or perhaps a previous owner did it due to damage dial and access to a parts chassis. Replacement dials were hard to come by until more recently when repo dials became available.
