The Fine Things are Always Hand Made
I'm looking for a cabinet for an HFL Nine In Line 28. It's a battery superhet the size of a Scott World's Record Super 10... The front panel is 26" x 7" and the chassis is nearly 11" deep. That's almost identical to the dimensions of a Super 10, I think. The two even look somewhat alike.
What do you all think? Am I likely to find a cabinet that fits? I've also been considering how hard it would be to make one myself, but since I'm not a woodworker, I can foresee a 'non-professional' result. Is there anyone who builds nice cabinets in that style?
Thanks!

Rodney - Patience will pay off eventually. I have found a few of the large battery set cabinet over the years and have most of my Scott chassis in homes. The depth is the issue - finding a 26x7 cabinet isn't too hard, but the 10.5 in depth is tough. I will look in my storage, I <might> have something...will check this weekend.

Thank you, Kent!
Well, the one extra cabinet I do have is a really odd size - 30in wide, 8in high and 9 in deep, so it won't work for you, sorry.

Thanks for looking, Kent, I appreciate it!
You guys are not going to believe this! I actually found one of these cabinets today in the wild!!! Just 25 minutes from my house.
I woke up this morning and looked at Seattle craigslist, and there was one for sale as a shoe rack. No kidding. The ad said only, "Radio cabinet with hinged top. Used as shoe storage." LOL
It's in poor condition and it's going to take a lot of work to make it beautiful. I'm thinking it may be a job for Fred Taylor. Here are a few pictures, including with the radio in it.
Does anyone know the manufacturer of this cabinet, or if it had a model number or name?
Amazing find. You have some luck.
Sending it to Fred is a good idea.
That is fantastic! They turn up, but usually at a meet, not as a shoe rack. That will be great for the set.

Nice. But, what to do with the Nine-in-Line superhet? :>)
Is a D H Fritz & Co. cabinet. (Corbett cabinets are similar design, but has a somewhat different design impressed on the angled corners.)
I have a Scott World Record 10 in a cabinet just like yours. And early AC-10 receiver in another.
Thanks for that info about D H Fritz & Co.
Not sure what you mean about the Nine-In-Line. Do you mean, when I get my Scott Super 10, what cabinet will the Nine-In-Line go into?
Well... I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! :-)
